The VAST XXT probe head is attached to the RDS-XXT adapter plate. Alternatively, an extension can be placed between the probe head and the adapter plate. The RDS/XXT probe head system is a combination of the articulating RDS system and the VAST XXT probe head. The articulating system is the probe head carrier. When the RDS adapter plate is inserted into the adapter plate holder of the RDS system for the first time, the LED above the ZEISS logo may flash on the RDS adapter plate. The flashing indicates that the firmware of the adapter plate is being updated. The flashing can last several minutes.
